Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch is a bungalow park about 15 minutes away from Disneyland Paris. It is not located on the Resort but just outside, next to Villages Nature Paris.
This accommodation has a number of advantages over the standard Disney Hotels. Of course these will be discussed in this article. But I will start with one of the most important points that people sometimes forget!
You need a car to stay at Davy Crockett Ranch
Were you planning to take the train or taxi from the airport? Then choose another Disney Hotel, because without a car this is a very impractical accommodation.
Davy Crockett Ranch is about a 15 minutes drive from the resort. Due to its location you can’t walk to the amusement parks. And more importantly, there is no shuttle bus or public transport. So without a car you’re dependent on a taxi or other guests of the bungalow park who might want to bring you back and forth. Although I honestly wouldn’t bet on that.
Because you are dependent on the car you can park it for free at the Disney Parks. You follow the signs to the Disney Parks and you will end up at the large parking lot. Here you show proof that you are staying at Davy Crockett Ranch (you get this when you check in) and then you can park for free in the parking lot.
Although there is always plenty of room, it can sometimes be quite busy to get to the parking lot or just to get off again. Keep this in mind if you have a reservation in a restaurant or if you come for Extra Magic Time.
Dogs are welcome
In all Disney Hotels and Partner Hotels it is not allowed to bring your dog. There is a day care center on the parking lot, but you still have to walk your dog yourself. And quite frankly, it is a bit sad to leave your pet there.
Of course, the best option is to leave the dog at home or in a care facility, but sometimes this is simply not possible. At such situations Davy Crockett Ranch is your best option. Your dog will still be alone for a while, but not locked in a scary kennel with dozens of strange dogs, but between the owners’ items and if possible in a basket of it’s own of course.
Upon arrival you will receive a welcome package for your dog with a collar, poop shovel, rug and leash. For this you pay €30 extra per night and you may bring a maximum of 1 dog.
By the way, check in advance if your dog is allowed in France. Attack or guard dogs as they call them, think of staffords, rotweilers, mastiffs etc. are not allowed in the country and therefore you can’t take them to Disneyland Paris.
Daily breakfast packages (at an extra cost) in Davy Crockett Ranch
Breakfast is not included in your package. Would you rather eat something first thing in the morning then you can order a daily breakfast package. Think of sandwiches, juice, hot drinks and jam. You can pick up this package at the reception and this will cost €10 per person.
A bargain if you compare it to other Disney accommodations where you pay between €19 and €34 for breakfast (per person).
You then take the breakfast with you to your bungalow where you can eat it in peace and quiet. The only disadvantage is that you have to do the dishes.
Despite doing the dishes (the bungalow has a dishwasher) I would book it. In the Disney Parks there are just a few places where you can have breakfast. In these places it is often very crowded, so you spend the first hour of your day in the Disney Parks waiting for a sandwich. I personally think that’s a waste of my time, so I’d rather pay a little more for breakfast in the bungalow.
There is no wifi in the Davy Crockett Ranch bungalows.
How is it still possible in this day and age you would think, but there is no wifi in your bungalow… There is a modem with cable for those who have a laptop, but on your phone or tablet you have to use your own 4G network.
The only places where there is wifi is in the bar or the reception. This connection is free of charge by the way.
Internet via cable in the bungalow is not even free. Only if you book a premium bungalow. My tip, save some of your MB’s and just use 4G. In the Disney Parks and actually everywhere on the Resort Wifi is available for free. That way you save some MB’s again.
You have to keep your bungalow clean yourself
In a hotel room everything is done for you, whilst not during current times perhaps. At the end of the day you come back and there will be fresh towels and beds are made up. In Davy Crockett Ranch it’s a bit different.
You will have to clean the plates, clean the sink and straighten your bed if you want to. Fortunately, at the end of your stay you don’t have to vacuum and clean the bathroom yourself. But keeping your house clean in during your stay is something you have to do yourself.
Would you like someone from Disney to come and keep your bungalow clean? Then you can arrange this on the spot for a small surcharge.
You also need to bring your own dishwasher cubes, detergent and dishcloths if you sleep in a standard bungalow. A cleaning package is included with the premium bungalow. You can also get the cleaning supplies from Davy Crockett Ranch’s store for a fee.
There are 3 different bungalow locations
As with any bungalow park, the cottages are spread over a large area. This is no different with the Davy Crockett Ranch.
Above is a map of the entire site. Parking at the bottom left is part of Villages Nature Paris. That is really built directly next to Davy Crockett Ranch.
Along all those loops you see the bungalows. On the top left you have the exit, but also the reception, store, swimming pool etc.
The cheapest cottages, the Trapper Tribe and Pioneer Tribe Block Houses are the furthest away from all facilities. With a little bit of bad luck you sleep in the back loop at the entrance of Villages Nature Paris. From the furthest cottage to the reception (and other facilities) it’s about one kilometer.
Would you rather be closer to the pool and the exit to the Disney Parks? Then take a Premium Tribe Bungalow. Not only does it have a better location, but you will also have two bathrooms, a free cleaning kit, a bottle of water, slippers and free wired internet in your cottage.
It is the best accommodation for groups up to 6 people
Most Disney Hotels can accommodate up to 4 people. You can add a crib and there are a number of family rooms, but generally, if you’re with more than 4, it’s quite a hassle. Often you won’t be able to avoid booking two hotel rooms next to each other. (Never guaranteed though, it is also possible that there are rooms or even floors in between).
You are better off in a log cabin of the Davy Crockett Ranch. Then everyone has a comfortable place to sleep and you are still close to each other. If you book a Premium cabin you will also have an extra bathroom. Very nice if you are with more people.
In addition, in low season there are regular offers where you pay just €500 for up to 6 people and for multiple nights in such a cabin. That is a real bargain compared to the Disney Hotels. The only disadvantage is that you have to bring a car with you and don’t mind going to the Disney Parks by car.
