Disney Village: what can you do at night in Disneyland Paris?

by Bianca

After a long day at an amusement park, there’s nothing I like better than resting in the hotel room. Let my feet recover from all the walking and prepare me for another long Disney day. Of course, there are plenty of people who think otherwise. So what can you do at night in Disneyland Paris?

If you’ve never been there, it’s good first to know a little more about the resort. Disneyland Paris consists of two theme parks, a shopping area with restaurants, and 6 Disney Hotels within walking distance. There are also Partner Hotels in the immediate area and 2 bungalow parks.

In short, it’s pretty big! From Disneyland Park to Hotel Santa Fe or Cheyenne – Disney Hotels that are the furthest away – it takes you more than 20 minutes to walk to your hotel. Then at the hotel, you still have to walk to your room. Therefore, I am always pleased to be back in my room at the end of the day.

During the hot months or on busy days, the Disney Parks are open until 11 p.m. You can have fun all day with the more than 50 attractions and shows. In the winter and low season, the Parks sometimes close as early as 6 pm. Then, of course, you do not feel like retreating to the hotel room yet. You can then, for example, do some shopping or eat something in Disney Village or, of course, in your hotel.

Disney Village

Disney Village is the part between the Disney Parks and the Disney Hotels. It exists of one long street – with branches – full of stores and restaurants. There is also a cinema and an arcade.

The stores

As you might expect, there are mainly Disney stores in Disney Village. You can buy all the souvenirs here that you forgot in the Parks.

Most stores are connected and are the perfect place to take shelter when it rains or warm up when you are cold. You can find stuffed animals, toys, clothes, pins, and other collectibles in the stores. You can even buy suitcases and cookware. But everything with a Disney theme.

Don’t expect to find stores as you have at home or in the mall. If you are looking for regular stores, you will have to drive 1 stop by the metro or 10 minutes by car to Val D’Europe. There is also a free shuttle bus to the hotels in the Val d’Europe area, which you can take if you want to do some shopping. This bus stops at the bus station near Vapianos.

In Val d’Europe you will also find a supermarket where you can buy everything you need. From sandwiches to sweets, juices, soft drinks, and even clothes and electronics. You can also get ready-made meals here if you don’t want to eat in the restaurants.

Back to shopping in Disney Village.

In addition to the Disney stores in Disney Village, some souvenir stores belong to the restaurants. Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe each have their own store. The Planet Hollywood store mainly has T-shirts, bags, and other products with their brand name printed on them. I always find the Rainforest Cafe store worthwhile. You can find the strangest things here. The same applies to the store of King Ludwig’s Castle. This is a restaurant with a knight theme and a German menu.

Restaurants in Disney Village

If you want to eat something in the evening, you have enough choice in Disney Village. From hamburgers to pizzas and steaks. There is something for everyone. In general, the food prices are higher than if you will eat outside the Disney resort, but this is no different than at other theme parks.

If you don’t want to spend that much money on food and drinks, you can always go to McDonald’s. There are just not many seats available here, especially during peak times everything is full. Therefore, it is best to pick up your order here and eat it in your hotel room or around the lake.

Another popular fast food place is Vapiano. Here you can eat fresh pizzas, pasta, and other Italian dishes. You can eat these on the spot or pick them up. Also, due to its popularity, it is sometimes a challenge to find a place at this restaurant. The takeaway is often a better option.

If you prefer to eat your meal in peace, then you can choose a Table Service restaurant. My favorite is Annette’s. This is an American restaurant in 1950s style. The menu features hamburgers and hot dogs that are quite affordable. The downside to Annette’s is that you can’t make reservations here. That means standing in line until a table is available, which can take up to 30 minutes, depending on the size of your group.

In Disney Village, it is also possible to have a meal with Disney characters. You can do this in Cafe Mickey. During diner, you can only eat a 3-course menu here, where you can choose from various starters, main courses, and desserts from the Italian kitchen. While eating, various Disney characters will come to your table to chat and take pictures.

Buffalo Bills Wild West Show

Another way to be entertained in the evening at Disney Village is the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. This is a show of about 1.5 hours for which you have to buy separate tickets. The prices start at €49 for adults and €40 for children for the second tier. This includes a 3-course meal and soft drinks or beer.

The theme of the show and the menu is the Wild West. You’ll see how cowboys and Indians battle it out during your meal. There are horses and other animals, and of course, the familiar Disney characters.

During the show, food is served. For adults, the menu consists of bread and chili con carne as a starter. As the main course, a Texan pan with various meats and potatoes and warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Children only get 2 courses, a chicken leg, and sausage with potatoes and ice cream for dessert.

We did not find the food of the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show to be anything special. The show is worth it though. We sat on the second row, then you’re a little further from the stage where the show takes place, but you can see everything well and have much less trouble with all the dust blowing up.

The floor is covered with sand because of the horses and that dust rises considerably. Also nice is that you get a souvenir that you can take home at the end of the show. All in all definitely worthwhile but do not expect too much of the food.

Other evening activities in Disney Village

Besides eating and shopping, there are other ways to keep busy in Disney Village.

Panoramagique

Are you afraid of heights? Then you can definitely skip this attraction. My knees are already getting weak just looking at it. Panoramagique is a hot air balloon that goes 100 meters into the air. The balloon is attached to a cable, so you also come back to earth safely.

Panoramagique can be found on the lake between Hotel New York, Hotel Sequoia Lodge, and Newport Bay Club, but you can’t really miss the 35-meter-high balloon. In the basket underneath the balloon, there is room for up to 30 people. There are no seats, and if you dare, you can walk around during the ride to see everything from a great height. If the weather is clear, you can see incredibly far, but it is, of course, also fun to see the Disney attractions and hotels from above.

The cost for a ride is €12 for adults and €6 for children. The ride itself takes a few minutes. Of course, the balloon doesn’t go up when it is too windy, raining, or when thunder and lightning are in the area. You can buy the tickets online in advance, but you will not get a refund. Also, if the weather is bad and the balloon does not fly. Therefore, it is best to decide on the spot if you want to go, purchase tickets at the kiosk and get in line.

Billy Bob’s Country Western Saloon

In Disney Village, there aren’t many bars where you can grab a drink in the evening. There is a small area set aside in King Ludwig’s where you can get the famous one-liter German beer mugs. You can have a drink at the bar or outside at one of the tables in the Sports bar. You can also order some small dishes here if you are hungry.

If you want live music, then the best place to go is Billy Bob’s Country Western Saloon. As the name suggests, it is a cowboy-style bar where they mainly play country music. The bar is always full, and it is nice and busy. In addition, it is hilarious to watch the line dancing, especially when people do not seem to have much talent for it.

During the summer months, there is often a stage in Disney Village where artists perform. You can then enjoy various live bands in the open air.

Christmas Market

Starting in early November, Disneyland Paris traditionally celebrates the Christmas season. The Parks, attractions, and hotels are then cheerfully decorated, and also in Disney Village, you can taste Christmas. Besides the many Christmas souvenirs in the stores, there is also a Christmas market in the shopping street. There are all kinds of wooden stalls with various snacks, drinks, and fun stuff. Often you will find stuff without a Disney theme here as well. A nice way to have fun at night in Disneyland Paris during the cold winter months.
