Star Wars: HyperSpace Mountain review

One of the most thrilling and unique experiences at Disneyland Paris is Star Wars: HyperSpace Mountain. This high-speed, intense roller coaster in the dark is not to be missed – it is a truly unforgettable experience! But it might not be for everyone. Let’s take a look at what you can expect!

About HyperSpace Mountain

HyperSpace Mountain is an exciting rollercoaster ride located in Disneyland Park’s Discoveryland. The ride is a tribute to classic science fiction and is inspired by Jules Verne’s “From the Earth to the Moon”. The ride is designed to give guests the experience of being propelled into space, much like Verne’s characters in the novel.

The ride itself consists of a giant canon that shoots guests up into the air at high speed, with a series of twists and turns throughout the course that simulates the sensation of spaceflight. The experience is heightened by the addition of special lighting and space battle sound effects, as well as projections of planets, stars and galaxies on the walls. HyperSpace Mountain is a thrilling and unique ride that celebrates the classic science fiction stories of the past.

The ride is now based on the Star Wars universe, with the iconic score playing as the coaster is launched into space. As you ride, you will be presented with a series of projections depicting epic galactic battles. You’ll be able to witness starfighters and other spacecraft in the thick of battle, with lasers and explosions lighting up the sky. Get ready to feel like you’re part of the action!

Experience a thrilling and adrenaline-pumping ride as you are sent soaring through the stars at a fast and furious pace. Feel your heart racing as you navigate tight turns and dark twists in this out-of-this-world experience. However, this ride may not be suitable for everyone, as it may be too intense for some!

Who can ride HyperSpace Mountain?

Star Wars: HyperSpace Mountain is a thrill ride which means that it has a height restriction. Guests must be at least 1.20m to ride, and the height will be measured twice, so unfortunately, there is no way around it.

If your little one is too small to ride, but you and your partner would love to go on it, then you can use Rider Switch. Go to the Cast Member at the entrance and say you want to use the Rider Switch, then one of you has to wait in line while the other stays with the children. After going on Space Mountain, the other parent can go on the ride without waiting in line.

It’s also good to know that the ride has other restrictions; guests with back, neck or heart problems or expecting mothers should not ride.

Is Premier Access worth it on HyperSpace Mountain?

Disneyland Paris offers a paid service to shorten the wait times on the most popular attractions. This is called Premier Access and can be bought for HyperSpace Mountain.

How this works:

  • Go to the Disneyland Paris app and press on Premier Access
  • You will see a list of available rides, the next time slot and prices
  • Click on Buy Now and pay, make sure to pay for everyone that will be riding
  • After paying you will get a QR-code that you will find in the Disneyland Paris app
  • During the time slot, go to the Premier Access entrance, which is on the left of the building, not the main entrance
  • Scan your QR-code and access the shorter queue

So, is it worth it? Premier Access is pretty expensive for HyperSpace Mountain. When I’m writing this, it’s €16 per person, which is crazy for a family of four. And, to be honest, it’s only worth it when the wait times are over an hour.

During Extra Magic Time, and early morning and evening, the wait times of HyperSpace Mountain are little to none. Usually, it’s a walk-on during those times, so save your money for better things like souvenirs or food.

Should HyperSpace Mountain be on your to-do list?

If you’re a fan of thrilling rides and Star Wars, Star Wars HyperSpace Mountain is a must-do! It’s one of the most exciting attractions in Disneyland Paris, but be aware that there are health and height requirements for this ride. Even if the theme isn’t as immersive as Star Tours, the iconic opening music of the Star Wars movies will make you feel like you’re part of the action. So, if you love rollercoasters and the Star Wars franchise, this ride should be on your itinerary!
