Home Disneyland Paris Everything about the two Disneyland Paris parks! Comparison of rides, shows, and attractions!

Disneyland Paris is actually 2 theme parks in one. It consists of a fairy tale park and an amusement park with a movie theme. When you book a stay through the Disneyland Paris website then you automatically have access to both theme parks and you can hop between the two without limitation.

If you buy just the tickets, then you can choose which park to go to or to buy a ticket for both.

The two theme parks are completely different. They each have their own attractions, shows, stores, and other entertainment. Let’s start with Disneyland Park!

Disneyland Park

Do you like fairy tales, princesses, and classic Disney movies? Then this is the park for you! It’s also the park with the beautiful pink castle that is currently under refurbishment.

Did you know that you can go inside the castle? If you go up the stairs you can not only wave from the balcony as the royal family does, you can also see the beautiful stained-glass windows that tell the story of Sleeping Beauty.

Be sure to look in the basement of the castle, if you dare. Here lives namely someone from the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Only this one is a little less friendly…

Disneyland Park is where you’ll find most of the attractions. And where you can have fun all day long.

Attractions in Disneyland Park

There is an attraction for everyone at Disneyland Park. Whether you like thrill rides, quiet rides or no rides at all. There is always something in there that will make you happy. Young or old, it doesn’t matter because most attractions are suitable for all ages.

For young children there are attractions, like, It’s a Small World, Peter Pan’s Flight, the Maze of Alice in Wonderland, and the huge merry-go-round. The latter is not just a merry-go-round, but one of the biggest you’ve ever seen.

If the kids want something more exciting there is Buzz Lightyear’s Laser Blast, the Phantom Manor haunted house, the Adventures of Pinocchio, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Want even more excitement? Then there are the roller coasters Big Thunder Mountain, Indiana Jones, and HyperSpace Mountain. Or go on a 3D adventure to the worlds of Star Wars. Of course with things that don’t quite go as planned. (That pesky Dark Side again!)

Shows and other entertainment

The entertainment in Disneyland Park depends on the season. For example, during Christmas time, there are special shows with a Christmas theme; the same goes for Halloween. During the Lion King & Jungle Festival, there is a special Lion King show that would not be out of place on Broadway.

If you’re not there during a special season, you can enjoy a parade almost every day and the evening show with fireworks and projections on the castle. Both are highly recommended, so make time for them in your busy schedule.

Besides the shows and parades, there is other entertainment in this theme park. For example, you can have your picture taken with your favorite Disney characters in various places throughout the park. Look on the Disneyland Paris app, which figures are there that day, or take an entertainment map with you at the entrance.

Walt Disney Studios Park

Walt Disney Studios Park is the second theme park of Disneyland Paris. This is a side park with only a handful of attractions. But not the least, my favorite the Tower of Terror for example can be found in this park, as well as Crush’s Coaster. Still, this amusement park is more suited for a half day. They are busily expanding to make the Studios a full-day park in the future. But unfortunately, that is not the case at the moment.

Upon entering, you first go through the Studio 1 building. Here you will find stores and a large restaurant where you can have breakfast in the morning which is quite affordable. If you come out of the Studio 1 building you can go straight to the Tower of Terror or turn right to the other attractions in this park.

The entire left side is closed. A new Marvel section is being built here with an Iron Man and Spider-Man attraction. Want to get some inspiration on how this is going to look in the future? Then search for the Avengers Campus in Disneyland Anaheim.

Attractions in Walt Disney Studios Park

The few rides that are currently in this amusement park are quite fun. Certainly, Ratatouille is not to be missed if you are going with small children. It can be a little scary at times, but oh so cute! In a little ratmobile you go through the story of the movie. In 3D, so the corks literally pop your way. During the ride, a few things happen that I won’t give away. All I will say is that they are quite unexpected, making the ride fun for adults too!

Another crowd-pleaser at the Studios is Crush’s Coaster. A roller coaster with a Finding Nemo theme. There are 4 of you in a cart that rotates on its axis as you go through sharp turns and drops.

Finally, there is the Tower of Terror, my favorite. In this attraction, you enter an elevator that quickly disappears into the Twilight Zone. Each of the 3 elevators has its own theme. In one, you hear scary creatures around you that get angrier the louder people scream. That really gave me the shivers!

Shows and other entertainment

In this amusement park, there is very little entertainment. The shows you can see here are usually seasonal. The biggest show in Walt Disney Studios Park is Mickey and the Magician, a show specially created for this park. It’s actually adorable, with lots of characters and famous Disney songs.

The differences and which theme park should you choose?

Probably after reading the text, you can already list the differences. Disneyland Park is the biggest park with the most attractions. Here you will find the pink castle and lots to do to keep you occupied for at least a full day.

The Studios are a bit smaller, and here you will find only a handful of attractions. For now, at least! The newest addition to the Studios is Cars Road Trip, where you will be taken on a ride through the world of the movie Cars. Along the way, there will be some special effects, so be ready to be surprised!

If you had to choose one theme park, if you are only going for 1 day and buying single tickets, for example, I would go for Disneyland Park. There is just so much more to do and see here. Besides, you can’t go to a Disney theme park without seeing the castle.

Having written that, a ticket for both amusement parks only costs €20 more. For that amount, you can also ride Ratatouille, Tower of Terror, and Crush’s Coaster (there are other rides in this park, but these are the most fun) at Walt Disney Studios Park. Personally, I would do this, especially if you don’t plan to come back again. At least then you’ve seen everything!

Is one day enough?

Whether 1 day in Disneyland Paris is enough depends on several factors. Do you want to see both parks but don’t need to see all the attractions? Then 1 day is enough. Are you going on a busy day on the weekend or during school vacations? Then I would personally go for at least 2 or even 3 days. You get the most out of your stay. In addition, the ticket price is significantly lower if you stay longer.
