Top 10 best rides in Disneyland Paris: this are the must do’s!

by Bianca

Did you know that Disneyland Paris has almost 50 rides and experiences, spread out over the two theme parks? This means almost 50 darkrides, rollercoasters, boat rides, and shows. Enough, to keep you occupied for at least a day or two.

If you want to experience the Disneyland Paris rides to it’s fullest, these are the ones you should pick. These are the ones you should experience at least one, and these are the ones that should be on your to do list.

Underneath you will find the top 10 best rides in Disneyland Paris, not in a particular order. Let’s start with the most popular one!

Crush’s Coaster

Crush’s line never goes under 30 minutes, this 10 minute wait was during a private event
(it was a walk on and I did it 7 times in a row :)!)

Crush’s Coaster is a indoor coaster and dark ride. It’s located in the Walt Disney Studios Park, and it has been a fan favorite ever since the opening in 2007. Even more than a decade later, this is still the most popular ride in Disneyland Paris.

And for a good reason!

This is a thrillride and a family ride in one. In a turtle shell you will be taken under the water to the world of Nemo and his friends. But when the sharks show up, fish are friends but what about humans…, it’s time to hurry and take a dive in the East Australian Current.

Here the ride gets bumpy and exciting. At least if you are a rollercoaster fan. Otherwise, it can be a bit scary, but I bet you will leave this ride with the biggest smile on your face, eager to experience it again!

Big Thunder Mountain

From Crush’s Coaster we take a small jump to the Disneyland Park. In Frontierland you’ll find Big Thunder Mountain, another rollercoaster and must do ride in Disneyland Paris.

This ride is inspired by the American Big Thunder Mountain rides, even though I think this is the best one. Especially, the part in the dark. Yes, you will be going full speed through a pitch black tunnel. Prepare to scream!

If you are a rollercoaster fan this is a ride for you. It’s exciting and beautiful at the same time. The higher parts of the ride give you a nice view of both the Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. And even without the views it’s still a very scenic ride.

Even if you don’t like rollercoasters you should give this one a try – except when you have health conditions that could be worsened by riding Big Thunder Mountain. I will guarantee that you’ll love this ride as much as I do!

Phantom Manor

Next door to Big Thunder Mountain you’ll find the next must do attraction on the list: Phantom Manor. This is the haunted house of Disneyland Paris.

Don’t expect jump scares, vampires, or flying skeletons, in this haunted ride you’ll get an eerie feeling. In this ride you will tour an abandoned mansion on a hill. This mansion belonged to the richest family in town, the owner of the mines you visit whilst on Big Thunder Mountain.

However, the owner wasn’t such a nice guy. He wanted nothing but the best for his daughter, especially when it comes to a husband. Everytime, the poor girl was preparing to get married, her fiance would disappear. As a guest you learn quickly that dad was involved, and that he and his grief stricken daughter still roam the hallways of the house. Where you are one of the guests.

This ride somewhat resembles the Haunted Mansion rides you’ll find in the US Disney Parks, and still it’s completely different. Definitely a must do, and no worries, it’s not that scary…or is it!?

Pirates of the Caribbean

This is another ride modeled after a classic in another Disney theme park. And even though you might be familiar with the other Pirates of the Caribbean attractions, this one is still a must do!

During this ride you will sail back in time, a time where pirates plundered cities, burning them down to the ground. There will be some thrilling surprises along the way, and even though this is marked a family ride some scenes could be scary for little children.

One of the newest addition to the ride is Captain Jack Sparrow. Did you know that the films were based on the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions and not the other way around? So, it’s only recently that they’ve added characters from the famous movie to the rides, including Jack, Barbossa, Black Beard and Davy Jones.

You should definitely ride this attraction if you are a fan of the movies, but even if you are not this is a definite must do, and it’s thrilling too!

Peter Pan’s Flight

Yeah, an 80 minute wait happens quite often so plan accordingly

The next Disneyland Paris attraction that should be on your must do list is Peter Pan’s Flight. This one is fun for the entire family, even little kids!

One of the most magical moments, is when during this ride you will fly over London. See the cars driving from way up in the clouds. Then you take flight through the stars to Neverland.

When I was little this was my favourite part, all those shining stars, it felt so magical, and it still does even now I’m in my thirties.

Peter Pan’s Flight is one of the most popular rides in Disneyland Park. Make sure you ride this one early in the day or late at night. Or get a Fastpass for it as early as possible.

It’s a Small World

Like Big Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight and Pirates of the Caribbean, this is another classic and typical Disney theme park ride. You will find this one in many of the parks around the world.

The Disneyland Paris It’s a Small World is quite colorful and is mostly located indoors. The outdoor area is covered so you won’t get wet on rainy days.

It’s a Small World is a boat ride for people of all ages. It shows how colorful our world is, and that we are not that different from the other humans worldwide. It’s maybe a little bit stereotypical, but still a lot of fun. You will be on a hunt to find your own country during the entire ride.

One small warning, the song will be stuck in your head the entire day!

HyperSpace Mountain

HyperSpace Mountain is by far the scariest thrillride in Disneyland Paris. It’s a highspeed rollercoaster in the complete dark. There will be loud noises and scary inversions, to get your adrenaline going.

If you are a thrillseeker this is the ride for you!

This rollercoaster is located in Discoveryland, which is part of the Disneyland Park. There are some height and medical restrictions, so check beforehand whether you are able to ride.

Oh, and why do they call it HyperSpace Mountain? Because the entire ride is set to a Star Wars sound track, you’ll even see and hear some of the ships go by, and even battle each other.

Ratatouille

For the next ride we will be going to the Walt Disney Studios Park. Ratatouille the adventure – which is the full name of the ride – is such a fun attraction for the entire family.

You are shrunk to the size of a rat, and will see the world through their eyes. As this ride is based on the Ratatouille movie, you will soon be an unwelcome guest in a fancy restaurant. Having to run from hot stoves, mops, and even traps.

As this is a 3D ride you will feel part of the story. And kids will love the cute scenes with Remy and all his family and friends. Definitely, a must do for anyone visiting Disneyland Paris.

Tower of Terror

If you like haunted houses and thrillrides, this is the one for you. The Hollywood Tower Hotel, scene of this attraction, has been abandoned since a horrific accident with an elevator in 1939.

Somehow, you as a visitor, are able to take an elevator again in this haunted hotel. As soon as the doors close you realize this was a bad idea. Then you will be taken on a wild ride to another dimension, where you will soon meet some of the people that disappeared during the accident.

The Tower of Terror ride can also be found in Hollywood Studios, in Walt Disney World, but this one is more like the ride that used to be in DCA in Disneyland. However, the ride tells 3 completely new and different stories.

The one I find the most scary is the middle one, which has creatures in it, when it’s very dark you will hear scary things around you which will give you goosebumps. And the more you scream, the more creatures you will hear.

Not for the weak of heart, but still absolutely a must do attraction in Disneyland Paris!

Autopia

For the final ride in the top 10 best rides in Disneyland Paris, we will be going back to the Disneyland Park. Autopia is last but most certainly not least.

This is one of the most fun ones for kids, as they can pilot their own car around a track. As a kid I felt like such an adult whilst riding this, and being on this ride is still one of my fondest memories.

If your stay will be about making memories, this one should definitely be on your list. Your kids will love it!

These were the 10 best rides in Disneyland Paris, and the ones you should definitely ride on your next visit. Let me know which one was your favorite!
