Top 11 Places in Italy to Have an Exquisite Vacation with Your Family

Italy was my ideal destination while my family and I travelled across Europe. The most captivating, but also the most gorgeous, country. Because of its cultural past and vegetation, it truly is rich in traditional mythology and beauty.

Italy has several attractions, including spectacular structures, historical landmarks, one-of-a-kind art galleries and museums, high peaks, a lovely coastline, and picturesque vistas.

In this article, I will show you how and where to enjoy your vacation to Italy and explore some of the top destinations while having an unforgettable time with your family. So, without further ado, let’s get started with the journey!

Where is Italy?

Italy is a magnificent European country because of its impeccable landscape. Beautiful Dreamy Italy “Bella Italia,” as many calls it, is located on the Apennine Peninsula in Southern Europe. It may be spotted on maps and even from space because of its unusual form, which resembles a kicking boot.

Everything is flawlessly mixed, from picturesque sights to everything that makes it an art piece to create this ideal small paradise—the traditional Rome, which typically leaves a mark of being a historical location. Milan is well-known for its exquisite couture and cuisine districts, while Venice is famous for its grand canals and sea delicacies.

The months of May, June, September, and October are the best ones to visit Italy. Aside from the crowds, these months combine the convenience of peak season with good weather.

How to Get There?

Nine main international airports are dispersed throughout the country that covers the major cities, so you should be able to fly everywhere in Italy. You will be conveniently routed to the airlines listed below so that you may depart for Italy from your precise area and arrive safely.

Cagliari-Elmas Airport (CAG), Milan Linate (LIN), Marco Polo Airport in Venice (VCE), Milano Bergamo – Orio al Serio (BGY), Milan Malpensa, and Roma Fiumicino are the top airports in Italy.

Most Beautiful Places in Italy

Italy is well-known for its travel, art cities, and spectacular landscape. Italy will stick with you whether you visit for architecture, gastronomy, or excitement. My husband, my children, and I enjoyed a fantastic two-week holiday in Italy.

Everything had us yearning for more, from Venice’s Grand Canals to Milan’s Duomo to Rome’s Colosseum.

Since I had just visited Italy with my husband and my children, the experience is still vivid in my mind. Even the touch of the breeze is still prominent in my memory. That nostalgia pulls me to my trip to Italy.

I can tell you where I’ve been and the delicious delicacies I’ve had, which will help you settle and resolve where to go for your appetite and amusement with your family.

Heart of Venice

Venice is beautiful but very touristy

Even the Napoleons named it “the world’s most beautiful drawing room.” This main piazza of Venice City was one of the first and most beautiful places we explored in Italy. Piazza San Marcon is 590 feet (ca. 180 m) long and 230 feet (ca. 70 metres) broad, and it is Venice’s lone “piazza” since the other squares are named “piazzales” or “Campos.”

The Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Basilica, the Campanile also known as the Basilica’s bell tower, and the Torre dell Orologio are among the piazza’s most iconic landmarks. We went on a tour of these architectural marvels. After the tour, we visited a nearby café, Café Florian, to refresh ourselves with coffee.

Café Florian’s chocolate is honoured to be one of the world’s top five most delectable chocolates. The flavour of coffee is exquisitely rich, and the smoothness of mascarpone and the aroma of biscuits had a heavenly ambience within the walls of this cafe.

Murano

Water and Grand Canals are pivotal to Venice. There are no roads available for you to drive on. They have ambulances and cabs as boats. So, we caught a water bus to Murano from Cannaregio, which is only a short walk from Piazzale Roma.

Waterbuses are an inexpensive method to get to Venice. Venice is made up of 117 islands. Murano is well-known for its glass production. My children were thrilled to witness the glass-making demonstration.

Glass blowing is a glass-forming process performed by people to shape glass. Initially, he used a blowpipe to inflate molten glass to create a glass bubble and then sculpted it. It was a brief but intriguing experience. Because of the heat used to melt the glass, the environment was loud and hot. The demonstration we witnessed had been fashioned into a magnificent horse.

Bridge of Sighs

The architect, Antonio Contino, created the Baroque-style bridge in 1600. This famous bridge is one of Venice’s most well-known, photographed, and adored landmarks.

The “Ponte Dei Sospiri,” built in 1614 by Antonio Contin, connected the inquisitors’ offices in the Doge’s Palace immediately to the “New Prisons,” the world’s first building designed specifically for confinement.

Unfortunately, detention during the Serenissima often meant death. As a result, the bridge’s name refers to the heavy sighs of criminals crossing the bridge on their way to jail, knowing they could be seeing Venice for the last time.

Ponte Dei Sospiri

Duomo di Milano

We intended to stay in Milan after Venice. The peculiar buildings and architecture of Milan were everything. We arrived late at night, yet the light made it feel like evening, even at 9 p.m.

We had breakfast at Panini Durini, just steps away from Duomo, with outstanding coffee at a reasonable price. The city’s main cathedral is located right in the city’s heart, the most beautiful places in Italy. It is made up of the most enormous artifacts. This huge cathedral’s ambiance is adorned with nearly 3000 sculptures. Because the ticket queue was long and the weather was warm, we chose to witness its beauty from a distance.

Galleria Vittorio

Galleria Vittorio

It was named after Victor Emmanuel II, the kingdom of Italy’s first ruler. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II established the contemporary shopping mall epoch.

Furthermore, in the heart of the shopping centre, there is a mosaic sculpture of a bull, which is claimed to bring good luck if you spin your heel on the ball three times. We noticed several folks spinning on the ball and a hole in the mosaic painting.

We tried but didn’t get all three spins in one go. That shopping centre was similar to an arena and a little bit pricier than we would have wanted. However, we enjoyed the stunning view of one of the most beautiful places in Italy.

Castello Sforzesco

Throughout its history, the Sforza Castle has functioned as a private home for monarchs, a munitions storage, and military barracks.

Several Milanese museums now call the castle home, including the Pietà Rondanini-Michelangelo Museum, the Ancient Art Museum, and the Museum of Wooden Sculptures. Because of the ancient architectural walls, the landscape is diverse and is among the most beautiful places in Italy.

We then headed to Simplon Park. We went with my family, and I was tired. It’s a huge park where you may enjoy a quiet walk, unwind, play, and so on. It’s a hidden gem in the heart of Milan.

Once you’re strolling around the city, you wouldn’t think you’d come upon this spot, which has no connection with the majority of Milan and allows you to relieve the tiredness of being in such a central metropolitan area.

B’café and Cioccolatitaliani

B Cafe is a charming and quirky café in the heart of Milan’s cinque vie district. This quirky eatery provides fresh croissants in the morning and excellent sandwiches for lunch. The exposed brick walls, old furniture, and movie posters make the place feel more like New York than Milan. The drink menu at aperitivo must be seen to be believed.

We had our aperitivos there and headed to Cioccolatitaliani for fresh and palate-stimulating desserts. It’s no surprise that customers line peacefully for one of their delights, which range from ice cream to coffee and from chocolates to gelato-based desserts. After all, most of them depart with an incredible gelato in possession, available in all tastes and a selection of toppings and extras.

Trevi Fountain

Trevi Fountain

From Milan to Rome, we boarded the train. It took us three hours to get to Rome. When we travelled to Italy, we were obliged to visit Rome as it is one of the most beautiful places in Italy. Rome is known as the “Eternal City,” which is true. The Rome high-speed train route winds through the scenic Italian countryside. It goes through various attractive towns and cities to the final destination, including Fidenza, Bologna, and Florence.

The Trevi Fountain is Rome’s grandest Baroque fountain and one of the most iconic in the world. This fountain and its piazza stretch up nearly a whole city block, measuring 85 feet high and 65 feet broad. The Trevi Fountain’s underlying motif is to calm the waters, an apparent allusion to the aqueducts that provide the fountain with water that offers both wellness and prosperity.

The tale, which originated with the 1954 film “Three Coins in the Fountain,” promises that you will be carried back to Rome if you throw a single coin into that fountain. However, if you are someone who throws two coins, you are bound to fall in love with an absolutely stunning Italian. If you drop three of the coins, you will have to marry the one you met. We had to throw a coin since We wanted to return to Rome.

Roman Forum

Initially, a marsh covered the Forum. It only regained the valley in the late 7th century BCE, when the Roman Forum began to take shape. It was meant to be the focal point of civic life for millennia. It housed significant government buildings and temples. It was also a popular spot for locals to gather. As a result, the most beautiful place in Italy Forum is known as the “heart of Roman society.”

Then after the Frum, we had to grab a coffee from a nearby cafe. The Caffe Delteatro is a good location for a coffee and a croissant in the morning. And the big patio dining area overlooks the busy square in front. The coffee was fantastic because the nuttiness and smokiness of the perfectly balanced acid and sweetness were insanely delicious to us.

Roman Forum and the Colosseum

Colosseum

When you first see the Colosseum on a Rome trip, you may wonder, “How old is the Roman Colosseum?” This ancient Roman architectural masterpiece is almost 1,900 years old.

The foundation stone was in 72 A.D. and was completed in 80 A.D. That means they managed to complete it in under eight years. Gladiators battled against one another in the Colosseum, and thousands gathered to watch. This represented the ancient Roman version of witnessing a major athletic event, and audiences regarded the bouts as amusement.

The Underground Tour of the Colosseum seems to be well worth your attention. While the first two levels are unique for primary ticket holders, the third level and the Colosseum underneath will blow your mind as it breathes in the category of the most beautiful places in Italy.

We enjoyed the finest creamiest and velvety textured ice creams we’d ever eaten at Gelateria da Costanza, which is close to the Colosseum.

The Contemporary Side of Rome, MAXXI Museum

Maxxi museum is a strong contrast against historical Rome

MAXXI is a contemporary art and architectural museum. We enjoyed coffee, waffles, and pancakes at the museum cafe. We went to an exhibit called “Bigger than Myself,” which contains images of various sorts with various concepts inscribed on the tapes that surround them. There are several geometric and collage displays.

Then we discovered “Rewind the Future,” which includes a chamber encircled by projectors (an unedited selection of videos tracing the history of MAXXI since it was built). I must mention that a “yellow room” was pretty interesting for my kids; they were in the area for 18 minutes. Deforming Mirrors was a fun display that made me feel like a kid again.

The Bottom Line

This country’s rich flavour, scent, and architectural elements are irresistible. We were enthralled by the aesthetic grandeur of Italy throughout the journey while visiting the most beautiful places in Italy. The sculptures and artefacts around the cities and the grand canals of Venice were everything we were yearning for.
