Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris: things to do!

Disneyland Paris consists of two parks: Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. Disneyland Park is a fairy tale park where you can meet many Disney characters and where you will find the famous attractions Pirates of the Caribbean, It’s a Small World, and Star Tours.

The Walt Disney Studios Park is the second park of Disneyland Paris. This park has a movie theme. Here you will find popular attractions like Crush’s Coaster and the Ratatouille: The Ride. This park was mainly a half-day park; there was not much to do or see in the past. Fortunately, Disneyland Paris has listened to this feedback and has begun adding more and more attractions to the park.

In early 2018, Disney announced that 2 billion would be invested in the Walt Disney Studios Park in the coming years. There will be 3 new lands: Marvel, Frozen, and Star Wars land. Starting in 2021, the rollout of these plans will slowly begin, and it will take several years.

Until then, of course, there is plenty to do at Walt Disney Studios Park.

The Park

The Walt Disney Studios Park is part of the Disneyland Paris Resort. That means you can walk from your Disney Hotel to the two Disney Theme Parks and Disney Village. If you are sleeping at another hotel or Villages Nature Paris or the Davy Crockett Ranch, you can park with your car in the large parking lot next to the train station.

There is a free shuttle bus from Partner Hotels and Disney Hotels that stops about a 5-minute walk from Walt Disney Studios Park. Want to walk from Disneyland Park to the other park? That’s very easy and is clearly marked. You can’t miss it.

Like the other Disney theme parks, Walt Disney Studios Park consists of several areas. Currently, there are 4, but starting from 2021, there will be 3 added.

When you enter the Walt Disney Studios Park, you are in Front lot. Like Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland Park, there are no real attractions here. You’ll find stores and a large food court where you can get burgers, fries, coffee, and more.

Useful to know is that here you can also find Guest Services. Here you can reserve a table in a restaurant, ask specific questions about your stay, find lost items and get a card for people with mobility problems.

From Front Lot, you can go two ways. If you go to the left, you will go to Production Courtyard. This is a small area in the park with currently only one attraction: The Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror. Shows are held in the theaters and on the plaza. These depend on the season. Currently, there is a Star Wars and Frozen show.

At the back of the park, there is a section called Backlot. Here you will find 2 attractions, 1 show, and 2 restaurants. One of the attractions in this section will have a new theme during the major renovation starting in 2021: the Rock ‘n Rollercoaster will change into an Iron Man attraction.

In Backlot, you will also find one of the most popular shows of Disneyland Paris: Moteurs: Action! This is a stunt show with cars and motorcycles that show how chase scenes are shot in movies.

Show Studio

The last section of the Walt Disney Studios Park is the largest with the most Disney attractions: Toon Studio. If you come out of the Front lot and turn right, you will walk towards the Toon Studio attractions. Here you’ll find the popular Crush’s Coaster, as well as the Toy Story section and Ratatouille: The Ride, among others.

As a Disney fan, you should definitely visit this section. Personally, I really like the Toy Story Parachute Drop. When the parachutes are at the top, you have a nice view over the park. Then you float quietly down, which gives a nice feeling.

Attractions in the Walt Disney Studios Park

Above, I’ve actually mentioned a lot of the attractions at Walt Disney Studios Park. There are only 14 in total, so is there enough to do, I hear you think? Yes, it is a park where you can entertain yourself for a day if you watch the various shows and the attractions.

For young visitors, there are 4 attractions: Ratatouille: The Ride, Cars Quatre Roues Rallye, The Flying Carpets of Aladdin, and Slinky Dog ZigZag Spin. Because many parents choose to visit Disneyland Park, the queues – except for Ratatouille – are often short.

Are you more of a thrill rides fan? Then you should definitely not miss the Tower of Terror. Have you ever stood in an elevator and wondered what happens when it crashes down? In this attraction, you can experience this with, as you can expect from Disney, a well-thought-out theme.

Another popular attraction in the Walt Disney Studios Park is Crush’s Coaster. This is a roller coaster with a Finding Nemo theme. Because many people love this attraction, the wait times can quickly go up to 45-60 minutes. Try to get on this attraction as early in the day as possible to avoid long waits. You can also reserve a Standby Pass for this attraction. With this pass, you will only stand in line for 45 minutes at the most, even on very busy days.

In the Walt Disney Studios Park, there are 5 restaurants. Two of them have table service, and 1 is a buffet. At Restaurant de Stars – the buffet restaurant – you can turn in the Standard Meal Voucher you get if you have booked Half Board or taken advantage of the free food and drink offer.

Want to eat out with kids? Then you should definitely go to Chef Remy’s restaurant from Ratatouille. This is located right next to the eponymous attraction. On the menu are various meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Also, at this restaurant, you can turn in your Plus or Premium meal vouchers in exchange for a 3-course meal.

Besides the above restaurants, there are also 2 Counter service restaurants where you can get burgers, fries, sandwiches and fresh sandwiches.

As in Disneyland Park, there are plenty of opportunities to collect souvenirs at Walt Disney Studios Park. The two largest stores with the largest selection are located at the front of the park – in the Front lot.

Here, you have many choices in all kinds of Disney stuff, from toys to stuffed animals and Pins. The real collectors can go to the Disney Animation Gallery. Here you will find various figurines, paintings, and other works of art that have to do with Disney. Finally, I personally really like the Tower of Terror store, but that’s because it’s one of my favorite attractions.

Choosing between Walt Disney Studios Park and Disneyland Park

Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris: things to do!

Many readers ask me which park to choose if they are only going for one day. The answer to that is difficult to give. Personally, I would then go for Disneyland Park because there is considerably more to do here, and this is the original Disney fairy tale park.

What makes the answer so difficult is that there are also fun attractions in the Walt Disney Studios Park that you really shouldn’t miss. Think Ratatouille: The Ride, the Toy Story attractions, and Crush’s Coaster.

Many of the attractions in the Walt Disney Studios Park are suitable for older children and adults. Going to Disneyland Paris with small children for only 1 day? Then go to Disneyland Park. Are you going with adults or older children? Then I would opt for a ticket for 2 parks. Then you can go to both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park, and you won’t have to miss any attractions.
