Bistrot Chez Remy is a charming French-themed eatery located in the Walt Disney Studios Park, adjacent to the Ratatouille ride. This unique dining experience allows guests to enjoy a delicious meal in a unique atmosphere, as the restaurant is a replica of the one featured in the Ratatouille ride finale.
Guests can savour a variety of authentic French cuisine, from classic French dishes to creative twists on traditional favourites. The atmosphere of the restaurant is further enhanced by its vibrant decor, featuring bright colours and cheerful accents, reminiscent of classic French bistros. The restaurant also offers a delightful selection of beverages, including wines and other alcoholic beverages, as well as non-alcoholic options.
We chose Menu Émile, which includes three separate courses, from the restaurant’s predetermined list of starters, mains, and desserts. Read on to find out our opinion of the meal!
The restaurant Bistrot Chez Remy
We made a reservation to eat here about two months ago. I would definitely recommend this because the restaurant was pretty full.
At 1 pm, we went to the restaurant and were quickly directed to our table. We had the option of sitting on either a couch or a chair – the couch was comfortable, while the chair was a bit uncomfortable.
We experienced a delay in receiving our order, and our server was neither speedy nor very friendly. It seemed as though she might have been having an off day, as the other staff members were courteous and accommodating.
The food selection is presented above and consists of predetermined, pre-set options only – ordering individual items separately is impossible.
The dishes on the right side of the menu are a bit more sophisticated and culinary, but we did not feel like trying them. You can also take a wine arrangement with your meal, which comes with 1 glass of either water or soda included. If you wish to have other drinks or wine, you must pay extra for them.
The food in the restaurant Bistrot Chez Remy
We began with a starter, and both opted for a salad. Underneath is a photo of the salad.
The salad was composed of lettuce, a boiled egg, radishes, sun-dried tomatoes, and cheese cubes, with a tart vinaigrette dressing poured over it. Accompanying the dish was a basket of bread, which was unfortunately hard in texture and lacked accompaniments like spreads or olive oil.
The salad was invigorating and had a delightful crunch. It was the perfect size for a starter. If salads don’t take your fancy, there is a cheese soup you can try or you can choose to forgo the appetizer altogether.
For the main dish, we both decided on the steak, but there were also other options available such as the cod or the vegetarian ragout.
When ordering the steak, you can choose from a variety of sauces to accompany it. I opted for béarnaise sauce while my husband chose melted brie – both of which tasted great with the steak. The size of the portion was more than sufficient, and I couldn’t quite finish the whole plate.
We both had the option to select how we wanted our steak to be cooked and we both chose medium, however my husband’s steak was cooked all the way through.
The steak was accompanied by a delicious ratatouille that even my vegetable-averse partner enjoyed. I highly recommend giving it a go!
To conclude the meal, we were served desserts, even though we were already full. I opted for the mousse and my partner chose the apple pie.
As you can see, no small portions!
Both the apple pie and mousse were scrumptious. The mousse had a delicious chocolate flavor but it was quite filling, particularly after having two other dishes. My husband ate every last bite of the apple pie, which was so delicious that it couldn’t be resisted despite being full.
My Bistrot Chez Remy review
I had been to Bistrot Chez Remy before and it was wonderful, so I decided to go back and it did not disappoint – we had a great time.
This expansive eatery can become quite rowdy during busy hours. If you want to celebrate, you can get a birthday cake (for an additional fee) that will be brought to your table with a singing performance. While this can be funny the first time, it can also become annoying after being done 20 times. This could be disruptive if you’re looking for a calming dining experience or trying to ensure your kids focus on their meals.
Bistrot Chez Remy offers a wide selection of delicious food; however, it is a bit pricey, and for €55 per person, a satisfactory dining experience is expected. Unfortunately, our experience was slightly marred by a less-than-helpful waitress and an overcooked steak.
For a similar cost, you can experience a far superior steak at The Steakhouse in Disney Village, or try something new at PYM Kitchen, the recently opened eatery in Avengers Campus.
If your children are fans of the Ratatouille film, then a visit to the restaurant of Chef Remy is a must. Otherwise, there are plenty of other places to eat on the property.
