We ate at Downtown Restaurant at Disneyland Paris; this is our review!

It’s one of the most difficult reservations to find: Downtown Restaurant at Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. People like that it’s a new restaurant with an Italian, Chinese, and American Menu. For us, that was also the reason why we wanted to visit this restaurant, but even when we were staying at the Art of Marvel Hotel, we couldn’t find a reservation. And without it, you simply can’t go to this restaurant.

However, after refreshing and trying for weeks, we finally got a reservation at this restaurant. Did it live up to the hype? Let’s take a look!

About Downtown Restaurant in Disneyland Paris

Asian food at Downtown Restaurant

The Downtown Restaurant is an all-you-can-eat style buffet in one of the Disney Hotels, Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. This hotel is themed after the Marvel Universe and has lots of art with Superheroes everywhere. We have been fortunate enough to stay here several times and absolutely loved it. But we never went to the Downtown Restaurant as the only way to get in was by getting a reservation, which is usually sold out months in advance.

The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the building, past the shop. Next door is the Manhattan Restaurant, a more upscale Italian restaurant. When you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by a host that will check your reservation and then asks one of the waiters to show you to your table.

Inside, it’s pretty small, with little space between tables. Just like other parts of the hotel, there is Marvel art on the wall, but other than that, the theming feels pretty standard, and it’s just a modern-looking restaurant.

The food

For us, this restaurant offers the perfect combination of foods that we love: Italian, American, and Asian. The buffet is divided into several parts, one for the starters, which are mostly salads and fresh cuts of meat, then the desserts, and the different sections per country.

Pizza at Downtown Restaurant

My first stop was the pizza, the Italian meatballs in tomato sauce, some bread, and a hamburger. My husband went to the Asian section and got rice with stir-fry and duck. Of course, we went back multiple times and tried almost everything on the menu, sharing most items not to fill up too quickly.

After 2 main courses and some desserts, I tapped out. My husband went back for two more courses before calling it a night. The desserts here are pretty cute, as some are marvel themed, but in the end, my favourites were the macarons.

Is Downtown Restaurant worth the hype?

The dining room

If I’m completely honest, no. Why? The food is really good, and there were so many options to try that we still did not taste them all, even though we shared most of them. We also liked the staff as they were friendly and talkative and constantly refilled the food.

The restaurant was small and crowded, with tables close together. Of course, they want to use the space well, but navigating through the room with a plate full of food is a bit challenging. We’ve seen multiple people dropping food or running into other people. Sometimes they open up an extra room near the Empire State Club lounge. This room is a bit larger and easier to navigate, but the options are limited.

It’s also a pretty expensive meal at €45 per person with no drinks included. For children, it’s €25 with one soft drink, water or juice. You can use the Disneyland Paris Meal Plan at this restaurant, and then one drink will be included in the price.

To conclude, the food is great and I loved that you can fill up your plate with pizza, hamburgers, and stir-fry, which is perfect for picky eaters. But there are many other good options to eat hamburgers or pizza at Disneyland Paris, without the price tag. There are even buffet restaurants at Disneyland Paris with a similar offering, like PYM Kitchen, which usually has more availability.

So, don’t stress over getting a table reservation for this restaurant; if you are able to get one, that’s great, and if not, there are plenty of other options to eat hamburgers, pizza, and desserts at Disneyland Paris.
