How does Disneyland Paris Rider Switch work?

Are you visiting Disneyland Paris with little ones or a special needs child? Then you want to learn about Rider Switch, as it will make your stay so much more enjoyable. It’s a free service for families who have one or more members that are unable to ride a certain ride due to height or health restrictions. And it can be used on the most popular rides in both Disney Parks.

This is how Disneyland Paris Rider Switch works!

How does Disneyland Paris Rider Switch work?

Let’s say your child is unable to go on HyperSpace Mountain, one of the most popular rollercoasters in Disneyland Paris, but other members of your family would like to go. Usually, one person will stay behind, while others go on the ride and have a good time.

With Rider Switch, the person who was watching the child, can also enjoy the ride with little to no wait. They simply switch with the other members when they exit the ride. Pretty easy, right?

If you want to use this service, go to the entrance of the ride with every member of the family and tell the cast member that you want to use Rider Switch. They will explain what you need to do next.

For most rides, one adult goes into the regular queue, while the other waits at the exit with the child. When the first adult exits the ride, they switch, and the other can go on the ride through the exit with little to no wait.

Who can use it?

The Rider Switch service is exclusive to families with children unable to go on certain rides. It was previously called Baby Switch, as it was intended for families travelling with babies, but the service has been extended to children who cannot ride because of height or health restrictions.

You can only use it when you need to watch a child due to its age or disability. Unfortunately, you can’t use it when grandma doesn’t want to ride, and you feel bad leaving her behind. Or when you are always the person stuck with the bags while others go on the ride.

That’s why every member of the family, including the child unable to ride, needs to go to the cast member at the entrance to tell them you would like to use Rider Switch.

What rides can I use it on?

We’ve seen people use Rider Switch on most rides, actually, even if there wasn’t a height or health restriction. If your child is too scared, too tired, or not ready to go on the ride, you can use the system. But it’s mostly used on thrill rides that have restrictions for guests who are allowed on.

Most popular rides also offer a service called Disney Premier Access, where you can pay to use a much shorter queue to go on the ride, significantly reducing your wait. If you want to combine Rider Switch with Premier Access, make sure to buy Premier Access for both adults and tell the cast member at the Premier Access entrance that you want to use Rider Switch.

You both scan your Premier Access QR code, and one adult will get in the queue while the other waits at the exit. When the first adult is done riding, you switch, and the second adult enters the ride through the exit.

But again, go to the cast member at the ride and tell them that you want to use Premier Access and Rider Switch. They will tell you what you need to do next.
